Dr. Brian Santin of Ohio Vein & Vascular, Inc. was recently elected as a Member At-Large to the Council of the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA). The Council of the OSMA is equivalent to a Board of Directors for a for-profit company. Dr. Santin ran for election against a highly contested field of candidates and was elected to serve for a two-year term on the Council.
The OSMA held this election at its recent annual meeting held in Columbus. During this meeting, the physician members of the OSMA discussed pertinent issues related to the delivery of medical care to patients and the ever-changing healthcare field.
“I really believe that there are a number of issues the Council of the OSMA can address and place emphasis on for the betterment of healthcare delivery in the state of Ohio and some of these revolve on the importance of strengthening the education and engagement of medical students and residents across the state,” said Dr. Santin. He believes that if students in training become involved with organized medicine via the OSMA, these young members will be the future leaders of the organization and can help to strengthen the impact the OSMA has on healthcare in Ohio.
